The Swedish Immigrant Regional Trail “Ribbon Cutting” event celebrating the opening of the newly constructed Interstate State Park segment was held on October 10, 2020.

The event was a simple but noteworthy while adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, and took place at the new Trailhead location at Taylors Falls City Hall. This trail segment was constructed in just over 6 months however it has been our vision for many years.

The Interstate State Park segment is a wonderful addition to this regional trail, and a great asset that will connect people to the outdoors and create opportunities among trail communities. This trail segment was made possible with ongoing planning efforts and willingness from all of our local trail supporters, County Commissioners, Parks Board Members, cities, local organizations, neighbors, Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR), as well as our Senators and Representatives. A special thanks to the Legislative Citizens Commission on Minnesota Resources (LCCMR) for providing the funding recommendation for this project in conjunction with the Environment and Natural Resources Trust Fund (ENRTF) for appropriating funds for this great project. We truly thank you for your continued support and dedication to make this trail a reality!
